I've Been Feeling Down

I have been feeling pretty down in the dumps about American political culture. Then I had a conversation with a customer and my mood turned around.

I have been feeling pretty down in the dumps about American political culture. Then I had a conversation with a nonprofit doing amazing work around energy efficiency and renewables, nonprofit doing amazing work around energy efficiency and renewables, and my mood turned around.

They told me that in November, they had increased the amount of actions from their list more than 20 times. Their supporters were contacting their elected officials and volunteering more than ever. No, the reason for this isn’t in response to the US election – the customer is a Canadian nonprofit!

What changed is they started using Chorus AI. I’m really proud of this. It’s a tremendously positive sign that what we set out to do when we started Chorus AI is being realized by great organizations doing critical work.

How are they doing it?

They use our product to write great template emails for their program. Because Chorus AI gives them access to all their documents across platforms, it takes just a few minutes to get a good draft down using their existing data.

Then they customize that base email to niche list segments using tried-and-tested messaging guidelines for their sub-audiences. Versioning content is a breeze with Chorus AI. As a result, they have been able to send precise, tailored messages each week.

They are not alone.

We are finding that Chorus AI customers can write and send more and better email or social posts. Chorus AI’s users say our product saves them about 40 minutes for every hour.

That means our customers’ supporters hear from them more often and are taking more action. When you have more time, you can often have more impact.

Technology can help make us more efficient and free up time. What we do with that time is where the impact happens (or doesn’t).

No hot takes here.

There hasn’t been enough time for data-driven conclusions about the 2024 election. But one thing that was true before the election and is still true after is that a lot of people support policies like protecting women’s health, making healthcare more affordable, reducing economic inequality, and protecting democracy, but their support isn’t represented proportionally in public policy or by their elected officials.

We need to build durable majorities to push for change on things that really matter, but the swings in fortune in the information age highlight the need for a new approach. Our playbooks have to change. Whether we’re trying to inform the public about an issue, mobilize them to action, or raise money to support our work, we need a new strategy.

At Chorus AI, we’re helping find the time and providing the tools to realize one.

Best,

Sam
